Lightning Strike Fundraiser!
AVGSL is happy to share that our Almaden Lightning 10UC softball team has just finished placing 2nd out of 21 teams at the Northern California Softball Championships. They will have the honor and privilege to represent Almaden Valley at the California State Games in San Diego, July 12-14th.
We need your help – Lightning Fast!! As you may know, AVGSL teams are all funded and supported by volunteers. These Cal State Games will require additional funding for unplanned travel costs, uniforms, admission to the games, lodging, fees, etc…

The 10uC Lightning battled through five difficult games this past weekend to finish 2nd place in the NorCal 10uC tournament. After winning four straight in the tournament, Almaden found itself up against a tough Mountain View/Los Altos team in the final championship game and fell behind 9-4 early in the first few innings. Almaden staged big comeback in the last inning, but fell short 10-9. The 10uC team, which is 27-3 so far this summer, will be one of five NorCal teams heading to San Diego to battle top teams from central and southern California.

Congratulations to the our Lightning 10UC-Kern team for winning the Central Coast Invitational Tournament June 8-9 in Salinas! The championship game featured outstanding defense from Lauren Z and Emma L, and timely hitting from sluggers Anna D and Lauren F as the Lightning beat the WV Slammers 6-2.
The Almaden Lightning 10UC's win the Father's Day Tournament in Salinas!
The Lightning fought through 4 tough bracket games on Sunday to win the Father's Day Tournament in Salinas. In the championship game, vs the Pleasant Hill Panthers, the Lightning rallied from a 5 run deficit to win 9-8. The Lightning were lead by strong hitting performances from Katie I, Anna D, Ella F, and Kristal K. Taryn K and Sammy S combined for 5 strong innings of pitching. Way to go Lightning!
